Cookie Policy
Last updated: September 29, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Abunch (abunch.io) uses cookies and similar technologies such as browser storage. We are committed to being transparent about what data is stored on your device and why.
1. What Are Cookies and Browser Storage?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as whether you are signed in.
Browser storage works in a similar way. localStorage keeps data on your device until it is removed; sessionStorage keeps it until you close the browser tab.
2. What We Use
2.1 Abunch's own items
| Group | What it does | Where it is kept | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in — essential | Keeps you signed in. During "Continue with Google", a short-lived cookie protects the sign-in against forgery. | localStorage; one first-party cookie during Google sign-in | Sign-in items stay until you log out (the tokens inside expire and renew on their own). The Google sign-in cookie lasts about 10 minutes. |
| Your visitor board — essential for that feature | Keeps the board you build before you have an account. It stays in your browser and is sent to us only if you sign up. | localStorage | Until you sign up (it moves into your new account) or clear site data |
| Choices and notices | Remembers small display choices and whether you have already seen a one-time notice. | localStorage and sessionStorage | Some until you close the tab; others until you clear site data |
| First-visit source | Remembers how you first arrived — such as the referring site, campaign tags and the first page you landed on — so that if you sign up later, the sign-up is credited to what brought you. It holds no account details. | localStorage | Used for up to 30 days; removed when you sign up |
2.2 Usage Information
We record how Abunch is used on our own servers — see Section 1.2 of our Privacy Policy. Apart from the first-visit source above, nothing is stored on your device for this. We do not sell this information or use it for advertising, and we share it only as described in Section 4 of our Privacy Policy.
3. Third-Party Cookies and Storage
Some pages use services from other companies, which may set their own cookies or storage. We do not control them.
3.1 Paddle (Payment Processing)
Paddle's checkout script loads on our pricing and upgrade pages and runs the checkout. Paddle may use cookies or storage to run the checkout and detect fraud. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
3.2 Google (Sign-in)
When you choose "Continue with Google", you are taken to Google's site, where Google may set its own cookies for the sign-in. After you sign in, you are returned to Abunch. See Google's Privacy Policy.
3.3 Cloudflare Turnstile (Bot Check)
Some forms, such as sign-up and password reset, use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is submitting them. Turnstile may collect information from your browser for this check. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
4. What We Do Not Use
- Advertising or tracking cookies
- Analytics cookies or third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics or Mixpanel)
- Social media tracking pixels
- Third-party behavioral profiling
5. Managing Cookies and Browser Storage
Logging out removes the sign-in items. Other Abunch items stay until they expire or until you clear site data for abunch.io in your browser settings. Clearing site data removes everything, including a visitor board you have not moved into an account.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and site data in their privacy settings. Blocking them may stop sign-in, Google sign-in, Paddle's checkout or the bot check from working.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of technologies changes. When we add new tracking technologies that require consent, we will update this policy and notify you. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
